Then she gave him to a blind man who found the name Kiss not appropriate for a seeing eye dog so he renamed him Buddy. This book tells the story of the first seeing-eye dog. It gives real accounts of the blind man who took Buddy under his wings and the learning process that happened.
Because these events are real it is an informational book. Soon Dorothy started a school in Germany that trained dogs to assist blind veterans she new they could be used to aid others too. The schools first canine helper was appropriately name buddy.
